Public holidays and some interesting festivals in AmsterdamThe following is a list of public holidays in the Netherlands. On these days, shops, museums and attractions usually either close earlier or are closed the entire day – handy to know for Amsterdam visitors! Schools, city councils, post offices and banks are closed the whole day on official public holidays. King’s Day (formerly Queen’s Day) is a massive celebration in Amsterdam. Sinterklaas on 5 December is a traditional Dutch holiday which is typically celebrated at home.

The historic canal belt of Amsterdam, a UNESCO World Heritage site, hosts the ten-day festival of classical music at numerous beautiful locations. 4 September Amsterdam City Swim On Sunday, 4 September 2016, the canal cruise boats and other vessels make way for up to 2,500 brave swimmers and around 500 brave children too. 10-11 September The Amsterdam Heritage Days Explore and celebrate the city’s rich history. Hello Amsterdam! Your adventure begins. We meet you at our agreed meeting point. Together we go to your hotel or private residence where we check you in. After you take a short rest we go on a tour of the city. You get to see the Negen Straatjes, the romantic canals, the tiniest house in The Netherlands in a private guided tour. You get aquatinted with the landmarks and points of interest. Six o’clock we head for five course dinner in michelin star restaurant on the Keizersgracht. After dinner, we head to the Red Light District on a private tour and merge into the atmosphere of the old city. After drinks in a local Bruin Cafe it is time to call it a night.
